Growing up in Ireland there was never really a need for swimming lessons.

When my mum was 21 she had a near drowning experience on a holiday and vowed that if she were to ever have kids they would learn water safety from an early age so they would never have to experience what she did that day.

I arrived in Australia in 2004 with a special invite from the Olympic and World Champion Swim coach – Laurie Lawrence. Following my experiences managing Australia’s largest free touring show, Kids Alive Do the Five, I was recruited as a teacher in the Learn to Swim business. Through hands-on teaching and mentoring from one of the best minds in the business, I quickly moved to establish an acclaimed reputation.

These skills enabled me to mentor other teachers and travel extensively promoting a high level of skills and knowledge to the growing aquatic industry.

For me learn to swim is solely about entertainment and education. If toddlers – children – adults are enjoying the experience while learning, then everybody wins. When you can educate a parent/student on the process you give them the confidence to practice independently of lessons which not only accelerates progress but allows for a better understanding of the steps needed to achieve a goal.
