Classes under the age of 4 years are split into the following age groups.
4 – 8 Months, 8 – 12 Months, 12 – 18 Months, 18 – 2 Years, 2 – 3 Years and 3 – 4 Years.
Maximum 4 Per Class. This allows for better one on one time with the instructor. Grouping children of the same age allows for the teacher to adapt a lesson plan that is directly aimed at that childs development stage.
Our swimming classes are perfect for kids who are 4 years old and up. After we check your swimming skills for free, we’ll put you in a group with kids who swim just like you, from beginners (that’s Level 1) to the ones who are already pretty good (that’s Levels 3 and 4). This way, you get to learn and practice with friends who are at the same level as you, making swimming lessons more fun and helpful. Each class is 30 minutes long, just enough time to learn something new without getting too tired, and you’ll be in a small group with no more than 5 kids. This means your teacher can help you better, and you’ll get to improve your swimming skills, like doing the freestyle and backstroke, faster.
Our swim instructors are distinguished by their AUSTSWIM certifications, Australia’s gold standard in swimming and water safety instruction. This includes the AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety and the AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics. These qualifications underscore our commitment to the highest teaching standards, ensuring that every instructor is well-versed in the latest methodologies for educating swimmers of all ages. Our ongoing professional development with AUSTSWIM enables us to offer lessons that not only teach swimming but also instill confidence and promote a safer community. This dedication ensures our students receive quality instruction, fostering a love for swimming and an understanding of water safety from the start.
Both group and private sessions for a total of 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, we can’t offer make-up lessons or refunds for missed classes. The reason is pretty straightforward: we rent the pool space for each day, and we’re charged for it whether or not everyone shows up for their lesson. So, if you miss your class, we still have to cover the cost of the pool booking, which means we still need to charge for the lesson.
But, it’s not all about the money. We genuinely want everyone to have the best chance to learn and enjoy swimming. If there’s a spot open in another class during the week because someone else is away, I’ll definitely let you know, and you can come swim with us then. I know it’s not perfect, but I hope you understand it’s part of how we manage renting the pool space and keeping our swim school running smoothly.
Embarking on your first swimming lesson? Expect a welcoming atmosphere where you’ll meet your certified instructor, discuss your goals, and start getting comfortable in the water, focusing on safety, breath control, and basic movements. Lessons progress gradually, with plenty of encouragement, ensuring a supportive learning environment. Whether it’s overcoming water anxiety or mastering strokes, your initial dive into swimming is tailored to your needs, setting the stage for a rewarding journey. Remember, feeling nervous is normal, but you’re in capable hands, ready to guide you through every splash and stroke.
Paying for swim lessons at Breeswim is straightforward, with classes scheduled to align with the Queensland school term for a structured learning experience. You can by Cash or Direct Deposit.
Classes are held on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, and to secure your spot, payment for the term would be required at $22 per child per class. We maintain small class sizes limited to just four students to ensure a more focused practice time during each group 30-minute session.
Most programs offer to learn to swim classes from the age of four months old. The reason for this is that four-month-old babies have better neck control, as well as new parents are a lot more comfortable handling the children in and out of the water.
Swimming lessons should be introduced before the children turn two years old. Whether this is formal swimming lessons or just going to the pool for some play time – It is advised that swimming lessons or water familiarisation are introduced as early as possible the reason for this is that children or babies never understand of fear of water.
Regardless of whether you have done swimming lessons before or not it is always good advice to get your child into the water (bath or pool) prior to starting formal swimming lessons. If your child is comfortable in underground water then the introduction of a formal swimming lesson format will become a lot more enjoyable for both parent and child.

If your child has an underlying fear of being in and around water there is one approach you can do as a parent that is going to guarantee an increase in confidence and independence.
The answer? –> Shallow water play.
Introducing shallow water play anywhere from 12 to 18 months to two years, to four years, to 10 years to 15 years – regardless of age – shallow water play allows children to be independent. This independence is what is going to allow the children to become more confident in the water.
Introducing scared children to deep water will only cause more upset. Your best opportunity is to find a shallow wading pool and allow the children to play. Over time you will see confidence starting to build. They will start to sit, they will start to lie down, they will start to splash, and they will start to have some fun. This enjoyment lays the foundation for your children’s learn-to-swim experience. If your child is not having fun in the learn-to-swim process then he or she is not learning.
If your child is currently enrolled in learn to swim lessons and they have a genuine fear of being in the water my advice is to take them out of lessons and introduce shallow water play in your own time.

“This swim school is by far the best we have been to on the Gold Coast! We have been to 4 other swim schools and they were all very much the same; same boring songs, same unenthusiastic teachers, same routines…Bree Swim is different. The level of engagement with the children is exemplary, no songs and the best part is that my son has improved beyond expectations. David is a skilled and dedicated teacher, the kids just love him. I highly recommend this swim school! A++”
